Spiders
Australia is home to thousands of species of spiders, and fortunately most of them are harmless. However, bites from many Australian spiders can cause pain and swelling as well as nausea and vomiting, sweats and headaches. The Funnel Web, Red Back, Wolf and White-tailed spiders are considered amongst the most dangerous.

EPT uses a range of highly effective, low toxic and low odour chemicals to treat any spider infestation.

Bees and Wasps
The three main pests under this heading are the European Honey Bee, the European Wasp and Paper Wasps. All of these have the capabilities of providing a very painful and sometimes very dangerous sting. All build nests and have a hierarchical social structure.

In order to control these pests, EPT uses a specially formulated dust and liquid to apply directly to their nests. Where applicable, nests are removed.
EPT use safe liquids and dusts and apply them directly onto the wasp and/or bees nests.

Cockroaches
Cockroaches are believed to spread a number of human diseases including salmonella and gastroenteritis as well as cause allergies. There are a number of pest species of cockroaches but these species can be divided into two broad categories - Large Varieties e.g. American, Australian, Oriental etc; and German Cockroaches.

EPT uses a variety of products including gel to kitchen cupboards, dust to cracks, crevices and electricals in addition to a safe residual spray. Please note: EPT conduct a 2 stage treatment for German Cockroaches in order to break their lifecycle.

Bedbugs
Bedbugs are nocturnal parasites, which means they rest during the day and feed on the blood of humans at night. While their bite is painless the bitten area becomes itchy and swells into a reddened wheal.Bedbugs prefer to hide in bedding, mattresses, beneath the cracks of wooden floors, in wall crevices and in carpet.

In order to break the lifecycle and to gain a satisfactory result, a minimum of a 3 stage management program is recommended.

Rodents
The three major pest species in Australia are the Roof Rat, Norway Rat and House Mouse. They can transmit serious diseases and their fleas and lice can adversely affect pets and humans. Food poisoning can also occur as a result of their droppings and hair contaminating utensils and food preparation areas.

EPT use a variety of strategies to successfully manage rodent activity including the use of pamper proof rodent stations.

Fleas
Fleas are a type of wingless parasite found worldwide. They feed off the blood of humans and animals such as dogs and cats. Since fleas use a wide range of hosts, diseases can be transferred from one host to another. Fleas are known to transmit tapeworm larvae and, uncommonly, the disease murine typhus.

Depending on the severity and type of infestation a multi-stage treatment may be required. Likewise client preparation prior to treatment is essential.

Birds
Although most Australian birds are completely harmless as far as human activities are concerned, there are a few species that can pose various kinds of problems to your property or business. Some may even threaten your health.

EPT use safe and humane methods to rid your home or property of nuisance birds. There are a number of options, including netting, deterrent systems and trapping to name a few. Our technicians will recommend the best options for your property and requirements.

Ants
Over 15,000 species of ants exist in Australia, and fortunately only a small selection can be considered pests.Bulldog, Meat and Green ants give a painful sting or bite while Bull ants have venom that can cause a severe allergic reaction. Argentine, Red Imported Fire & Crazy ants are not native to Australia and are considered environmental pests.

In addition to being a nuisance around the home, colonies of ants can alsoblock the root zone of plants. Ants can damage and short circuit electrical components as well as transfer viral, fungal and bacterial plant diseases.

EPT identify and target the ant colonies around your home, and use safe granuals, liquids and gels to get them where they live. A two (2) stage Ant Program is essential

Silverfish
Primarily a nuisance pest inside the home or buildings they can contaminate food, damage paper goods and stain clothing although being medically harmless. Many of their habits are similar to cockroaches and they appear to be more common as household pests in drier parts of the state. Occasionally damage book bindings, curtains, wallpaper.
